EVOLVE

At the center of EVOLVE is the desire to challenge ourselves as artists and collaborators—continually seeking out Growth, Catharsis, and Possibility. We strive to push beyond the familiar, embracing experimentation and reflection as we reach for the next level in our craft—both on and off the stage.

Artist-Centered

At the center of our work, and how we measure our success, is the experience of our artists. We prioritize Connection, Representation, Empowerment, and Empathy. If we put on an award-winning show, but our artists have a terrible experience - it's a terrible show. Full stop.

F*ck Yea!

We believe our company can tear down barriers, dismantle gatekeeping, and craft courageous stories. A Theatre EVOLVE show is unapologetically theatrical, has a sense of magic, and centers the Bravery, Playfulness and Originality of our artists who push to challenge themselves. F*ck yeah means f*ck yeah we can do that/change this/create this.

Community

Chicago is the greatest theatre city in the world, derived from our commitment to each other as Community members. We participate in Engagement with fellow storefront companies and emerging artists, sharing resources when we are able. We are always striving to expand our Outreach and Inclusivity in the artists we work with, and ensure that the environment we create acknowledges and respects the intersectionality of the identities brought into the room.

Service

Theatre EVOLVE moves with a sense of service for the Chicago theatre community. We are building opportunities and providing the tools for artists to do their best work in a Supportive environment. We believe that hosts eat last -- while we are creating opportunities for our company members, our first priority is always to Give opportunity and employment for the artists of our city, and Advocate for emerging artists trying to get their foot in the door.
